March: goals

 photo 25Mar2012_2659.jpg

Simple goals for March. Lately I've been feeling a little unmotivated and a lot overwhelmed. Due to a bit of a timetable mix up I wound up taking 40 credits last semester and 80 this semester, which is wonderful. I thought I was coping pretty well, until this week when all the coursework got set & I'm now wondering how on earth I'm going to get everything done. I know people always say that students 'have it easy', but I've been pulling 14 hour days this week and don't seem to be getting anywhere. So I guess March is going to be a lot about work, which also means I need to really make the effort to take care of myself.  I know that I work better when I remember to take the time off every now and again, but usually that doesn't end up happening...

Any of you have any advice about convincing yourself its okay not to work every hour you're awake? I could do with it!

  1. When I was at uni, I ALWAYS felt that any moment not spent doing work was a moment wasted and felt so guilty about having nights off but the truth is that without those evenings off or afternoon breaks, you're doing more harm than good. Your body and brain need to rest a bit to work to your full potential in the time that you are working. So I realised that as long as I made the hours that I did work productive, the breaks were well deserved. Don't be too hard on yourself - you will get all the work done because there's no other choice so just make the journey of getting to that point an enjoyable and relatively stress-free one. You'll do great :)

  2. I really need to have some time to switch off until I go to sleep, I end up sitting in front of my laptop or my phone and it really stops me getting to sleep straight away.

  6. Great goals! I really should do the water one too - I've tried to start drinking more and less cups of tea, but it's so easy to slip back into old habits!

The time off goal is very important too and something I hope to work towards!

Good luck with your goals :))

  7. I was a student who definitely did not have it easy either! I always felt like I had so much work to do and often felt bad if I didn't always go out with my friends! Although it is super important to take some time to be with your friends, and also just yourself! It's better to do a short burst of work feeling refreshed than to spend all day slogging!
